A Tang dynasty waring a gorgeously dyed translucent veil. During the Tang dynasty the tie dye was famous for its brilliant color retention as well as the extraordinary labor to produce such clothing- thus tie dyed clothing, veils, and shawls were seen as a distinct status symbol for the wealthy. Often vibrant colors were favored and the forms of the flower medallion tuán huā 团花 "flower block/ flower medalion" shapes ranged from intricate and refined to cloudy floral fields of color.
Beyond such means of formality and propriety there also exists a hatted version for such veils. There are already various articles covering the well-known "Veiled Hat" of Weimao and Mili, which can be easily found here.
The lady herself is styled in High Tang dynasty fashion- distinguished by the drooping silhouette of the hairstyle and the often Rubenesque full figures of the body.
