Compared to the simple and austere women's fashion of Western Han, the women's fashion of Eastern Han was ostentatious and elaborate. Many ladies worn prominent golden hairpins to signify their status, as reflected by the tomb murals of Dahuting 打虎亭 (Lit. "Striking Tiger Pavillion") Complex in modern Henan.

SHENGLE CITY- BACKGROUND

Cao Cao by Panic Lau: Cao Cao was an ambitious cavalry commander who
lived in the chaotic final days of the Han dynasty. He would emerge as the paramount leader
in northern China and take over its defenses. During his rule, he dealt several defeats against the steppe people that bordered his northern frontiers and received their submission.

The ancient city of Shengle (盛乐) was consecrated during the Western Han dynasty and was extended out beyond the Han Great Walls. In the Eastern Han Dynasty it was one of the major hubs of diplomacy and exchange in the Yunzhong County. At Shengle, the Han conducted much affairs with the steppe peoples- especially that of the Xiongnu and the Xianbei peoples.

The city had an outer ring of walls and a also an elaborate palace complex that where the nobles and the governor held court. During the wars in the latter days of the Three Kingdom period. The Kingdom of Cao Wei- which was founded by the warlord Cao Cao redrew the nearby counties and abandoned Shengle City.

However it was not the end of the City's prominence. In the ensuing centuries, the Touba clan of the Xianbei people made Shengle the capital of the kindgom of Dai during the Sixteen Kingdoms period. And after their conquest and consolidation of northern China, Shengle became the capital of the kingdom of Northern Wei until the capital was transferred to the more southern city of Datong directly beside the Northern Wei Great Walls.
